Flag of Nepal  ,
Tuesday, December 13, 2005

am fully recovered from my trek and am ready to get on with my life and get travelling again. the only problem is that i kind of met a cute little nepali girl and it kind of sucks that i have to go. luckily her family is pretty well off as far as nepali's go so she may come visit in thailand for a few weeks and that would be quite groovy

observation: when you drive by the embassies you see the occasional nepali police man standing in front of the wraught (SP!) iron fence but when it comes to the american embassy we have the bomb blast door instead of the iron fence and we have a full squad of machine gun toting nepali soldiers sitting behind sandbags in front of said bomb blast door. if you look VERY hard you may be able to see the flag through the barb wire that is laced through the 10 foot high wall. GOD BLESS AMERICA

observation #2: you know you have become a little jaded when the dirty little kids that are constantly panhandling actually cause you to get angry instead of feeling bad for them. nepal is a great place but there is the element of the poor and street kids especially where the westerners are. i have found that i can completely ignore a woman that is begging for money/food with an infant strapped to her back via papoose. is this a good thing?

so my current plans in case anyone is keeping tabs is im going to chitwan national park where there is an elephant breeding center.....lots of wild rhinos and the very very rare tiger. im going to spend a few days there doing the naturalist thing and then im heading down to india again and into dehli. lets hope this city is a little better then calcutta because that place drove me ape shit
