since my rafting adventure I have been able to escape kathmandu and am now residing in the mountain town of pokhara. ive been through the rockies and ive been to alaska but these mountains are just so much more immense then anything else ive ever witnessed first hand. i can see 3 different mountain peaks from this town that are over 8000 meters...thats over 26,000 feet for gods sake. an author once tried describing outer space as "big, i mean really really big. so big it blows your mind and then it is even bigger then you thought." that about sums it up for the himalayas.

it really is kind of a relief to get out of kathmandu. I mean im a veteran of a few dead shows, a whole lotta phish shows and the occasional monumental rock festival but even I think that there are too many people trying to sell me weed and hash in kathmandu. nancy regan would be so proud but goddamn it gets tiring dealing with those people. is it wrong that i want a nepali wife? im sure grandma would be fine with it as long as we tell her she's jewish. lost tribe of israel and all that

so you may ask yourselves, what in the hell is he doing now. the answer is that im going on a 10 day trek through the himalayas starting tomorrow. should be quite the ummm adventure and all that good jazz. im not climbing everest or anything quite that difficult but i really wanted to get out into the countryside and into the mountains a bit. there are a few hot springs along the way so it should be a pretty nice time. hopefully not too big of a problem with the maoists. to end this installment i feel the need to say "GO BEARS!!!!!!!!!!!"
