ive slightly slowed down my travels to a crawl due to the holiday today. not halloween but the hindu version of christmas and the 4th of july wrapped up into one. that and this scottish couple ive been hanging out with is having a birthday today so i thought i would stick around for all of that before heading into nepal. ive heard some pretty interesting stories about travel within the country so we'll just have to wait and see. nothing like visiting a foreign land while they are in the middle of killing each other. its as if someone is backpacking through the U.S. in 1863...def a different perspective. weirdest souvenier ever....i guess in tibetan buddhism sometimes when a monk dies they take the top of his skull, line the inside with silver and use it as a ceremonial bowl. and for $125 you can have one to. a bit too morbid even for me.

ive been trying to get a handle on this whole hindu thing but there are just wayyy too many gods and incarnations and "aspects". one god may have 20 different forms and you are expected to know them all and what they all mean. the only one i really remember is shiva which is the dancing god but also has a "terrible aspect" which is when she destroys and this is bhairab and that is one COOL looking demon/god. i have a feeling im going to have quite a few statues of him hangin around when i get back

so i celebrated the 4 year anniversary of me getting out of the big house yesterday. kind of a weird place and time to have those memories brought up again. what a difference a few years make right? no complaints from me thats for sure. anyhow im leaving for nepal tomorrow (nov 2nd) and hopefully i make it there in one piece without the maoists giving me too much of a hassle
