ive been a traveling little bugger since i got back to thailand. ive been over to pattaya for some rest and relaxation and then headed down to krabi (18 hour bus ride) to sit on their beaches for a bit while waiting for my indian visa to go through. the water was a little choppy and visibility sucked due to the end of the monsoons but i made the most of it and managed to enjoy myself somehow. after extorting me for $80 i finally got my indian visa and i suppose its not that bad because its good for 6 months and is multiple entry. i went and bought my plane ticket to calcutta the other day and am leaving on wed (oct 19th) . they've renamed the city kolkotta or something or other but im sticking with the older version. i mean whos says mumbai instead of bombay? the initial plan is to see calcutta which is supposed to be without a doubt the most insane and poorest city on earth and then get on a train going up to nepal for a month or so while the visibility is good and the mountains are not covered in clouds. now it feels like im traveling!

humorous story #238 : ive been using the same travel agent girl off of khao san road for about a year now. she cuts me deals and speaks english relatively well. she doesnt know my name but has christaned me "pom poi" which is thai for chubby. i walk in the office and i hear "oh pom poi you back, where go now?" but thats not the funny part (well it IS funny). she was telling me that she actually took a vacation to canada like a year ago and her flight landed in san fran for a lay over. well she had to apply for a transit visa for the U.S. before she left and it took her like 3 months to do all the interviews and convince them she wasnt a hooker....all for a visa that expires in 4 hours mind you. you cant even leave the damn airport with it. anyway after all this turmoil of interviews and the feds calling her parents and bosses she goes and picks up her visa and she was given a 5 year resident visa. that is our fine homeland security at work folks
