Flag of Thailand  ,
Tuesday, October 11, 2005

thailand is a very nationalistic country. there are flags everywhere and more portraits of the king then you can shake a stick at. along these lines the thais play there national anthem twice a day on every radio station and tv station and in a few select parts of the city they have an air raid esque blaring of the inspirational music. when i left thailand in may this was not really all that bothersome since i never listened to the local radio and it was a rare day in hell that i had a tv in my room. but sometime during my absence the little bastards intalled a few of those air raid speakers along khao san road (backpacker central). not only did they install them along the road but one was put up within arms reach of my hotel window. i didnt really notice it until 8am the next day..........ah the joy.

another slight worry/problem that ive noticed is that it seems that the lord almighty has it in his mind to try and block my travels. i mean consider this....2 days before i leave for thailand the tsunami hits. worst natural disaster pretty much ever. i buy my ticket for mainland usa and the next day katrina hits. i put my paperwork in for an indian visa and 3 days later earthquake kills 30,000. i JUST BUY a guide book for bali and bombs go off. is this just a coincidence? i would think one or two maybe but all of these you just have to be kidding. anyway ive been on the move a bit....from bangkok to pattaya from pattaya to bangkok and then to krabi (current location) my passport is in the indian embassy for another week so i have a bit of time to kill but im not sure what i want to do.
