ok first and foremost may everyone have a great new year.......new years eve day was a pretty busy one, we went to the grand palace which is by far the most amazing thing i have ever seen in my entire life. if u see one thing in this counrty go see the palace beacuse its just amazing. had a quasi religious experience as i knelt with the masses in front of the emerald buddha....very strange but also moving in an unexpected way. after the afternoon spent at the palace we hired a longboat to take us up river to china town and the open markets there. not quite as impressive as i was hoping but it wasnt the weekend either. so for lunch you have to follow this line of thought.......im in thailand but we go to china town and get japanese food at a place called texas.....complete mind fuck when you stop and think about it. as for the evening well new years eve in bangkok was a pretty crazy thing. leading up to the big hour i was sitting at a sidewalk table at a bar with a british couple, swedish mother and her two teenage kids (daughter was pretty cute LOL) a guy from australia, two girls from boston and a girl from canada and proceeded to drink myself a bit silly. khao san road is a major tourist draw....its where the backpackers come to stay so there is a market quality about it but the locals come to watch us as an attraction upon ourselves.....the crossdressing boys of bangkok came out in full force for the new year celebrations. i think their entire army mobilized for this special day and it was fun to play the game "boy or girl" while drunk.........though sometiems it was disturbingly difficult to figure which was which. after a couple hours that are edited for family content (nothing racy really just weird story) i found myself dancing in the street with the israelis and brits and aussies to a few drums and a didrido (sp) absolutely amazing experience that really was the highlight of my night. so im leaving for ko samuai tonight....14 hours bus ride yay (check map to find.....southern island) so i should be on the beach this time tomorrow...enjoy the weather you poor bastards...LOL. im not sure the net situation there so it may be awhile....if thats the case dont miss me too much
