Last day here in the big city. Heading to Panajachel on the 12:30 shuttle. Spent yesterday morning doing historical things, museums around Parke Central. Lots of walking, no tuktuks. Back to mi casa for the afternoon. I was going to study my spanish on the rooftop....what a view!
Somehow it just seemed more appropriate to listen to some David Childers & the MDJs along with some of the very reverend Al Green! I love my ipod! Decided to go back to La Pena de Sol Latino again last night. The bartender from the night before, Mario, was the performer. He was a big crowd favorite. I got there a little early and there was a Mayan cleansing ceremony going on for one of the owners, performed by a Mayan shaman. Big smokey fire with lots of tequilla shots being thrown on it. I met the other owner, he had performed in the band the night before, Sol Latino. He is from Tennessee and has a brother living near Charlotte. Maybe the south will rise again....it will just be in Guatemala! Everything is so cheap here...great food and cold beer!
Off to catch the shuttle to the mountains. Found a place to put my photos on CD so I don{t have to have the cord!! Hope you enjoy and I{ll put more up later!
