We arrived at 5am to see the sunrise, which was kind of an anti-climax. Too distracted with chatting, we turned our backs and walked back towards our tuk tuk. When we turned back around - out of nowhere - an amazing orange sunrise lit up the sky. Typical, we thought.

Already tired after only one hour into our day we drove about a mile along the complex to the next section.

We continued like this around the whole place and our driver gave us in-depth knowledge about each temple, much to our surprise! He was one of the nicest, most genuine local people I met on the trip.

Our day ended about 5:30pm. Unfortunately, the sunset wasn't anything special. Despite the long, sweaty day (and unsuccessfully fighting a monkey for my water!) it was amazing to see a wonder of the world. A dream come true.

Angkor Wat one day pass (5am - 6pm): $20
