Our last day here at Lake McDonald Lodge. Forget to tell everyone there is no cell phone coverage, no internet available to guests, and only one TV in the bar. It really is OK. After a great breakfast, we decided to take a hike up the main road and took the John's Lake trail. This was a walk thru the cedar trees. A "Hansel and Gretel Forest". Upon our exit back to the main road we were at the upper McDonald Creek falls. They were spectacular. I didn’t take many still pictures but have lots of video which will have to be a separate planned adventure. Then we walked back toward the lodge and stopped at the lower McDonald Creek falls. Again great views of rushing mountain waters. We returned about 1:00 pm and realized we had hiked about 4.5 miles. Lunch time, so off to the dining room. A great buffalo burger and fries were in order and Ritchie ate her share. They were great.
The day was beautiful so we sat out in the sunshine and read our books. It started to cloud over so we went inside by the huge fireplace and read some more. Before you know it, time for dinner. This time we split the dinner entree so I could have wild berry pie with Huckleberry ice cream.
Now the job of packing and working out the logistics for getting back to the train station in the morning. We must board at 8:15 am and they assured us they have never had any late passengers.
