Sunday morning, our first full day a Victory, brings the thought of the song, "when morning gills the skies . . . may Jesus Christ be Praised". The beauty of his creation surrounds you here and his presence is everywhere. The sun is of course always up but there is still a sun rise. The lake right at our rear window is like glass as you can see. The RV parking is right below the main facility which is called “Miracle Lodge”. It is appropriately named as it was a miracle in the making. All cost and labor were donated. It is a great facility. It sits right below Victory Mountain. I will try and caption the pictures so you can see their facilities.

We met Rod on our way to breakfast and chatted. Then talked with Nate and a work crew in from Kansas. After breakfast we headed to church services about 5 miles east of the camp. Glacier View Church is on the doorstep of the Matanuska Glacier. The panoramic view you witness as you step out the door takes your breath away. As this is Memorial Day weekend, we honored those that have served in all branches of the armed services. Brain Anderson, song leader, spoke on behalf of a member whose son gave the ultimate sacrifice two years ago in Afghanistan. She started the first Gold Star chapter in Alaska in honor of her son, PFC Jessy S. Rogers and four of his company. She has had her truck custom painted in his memory. On the hood, inscribe in the dog tags, are the names of all those that have died in the service to our country from Alaska. She now takes that truck to car shows, fairs and other events to tell his story. It's brings tear to your eyes.

After lunch we hiked up to inspiration point to get a truly beautiful panoramic view of Victory Bible Camp. (Click on the picture at the left to see a video clip of our view) A plaque in honor of the founder John Gillespie has been placed there in his memory. On our way back we stopped at Alpine Camp and the bathrooms Dave and I worked on in 2007. Work still looks good. We then walked along the shore of Shallow Lake looking for moose, then out to the air strip. When we got back, we just sat and took in the views from our RV lot home. Doesn’t get much better than this.

After dinner we were treated to a loon frolicking in the lake and reminisced about “On Golden Pond”. We now hear the call of the loon as the sun somewhat sets in the west.
