We got bored of Ko Samui so left a couple of days early for Ko Phangan. You have to be mad to stay on Hat Rin Beach over the Full Moon Party as the DJs don't stop till 11am. We've had our accommodation booked for ages cos the whole island gets totally full up at full moon, but as we were there a couple of days early we stayed on Hat Rin in Coral Bungalows. Such a fun resort. On the first night it had a pool party which we had seen advertised all everywhere. We had a mad night and met lotsa people in our hostel. The staff were hilarious. Having lived on Hat Rin Beach they drank like the English and tried to put on cockney accents.
When we managed to find our next resort it was deserted and in the middle of nowhere. We were planning to check out THE beach party, but there was a storm and a powercut across the whole island.
It wasn't until the next day that we met our new besties, Nim, Kinita, and Mike (mad 6, mad 1, and mad 4). We had a couple of wicked nights on the beach and danced until the sun came up, which looked awesome. We always messed around on the beach in the morning. Sea cucumber fight. Everyone does neon facepaint, even all the beach dogs. You drink out of buckets. One night I bumped into a really good friend from uni, who was travelling with one of Mel's friends from Manchester. Didn't even know they knew each other! Spent the days recovering by the pool and met everyone in our hostel.
When In Thailand, George, Nicki, and I got a traditional bamboo tattoo. It says "When  In Rome", which has been our saying for the whole trip. I'd spent weeks designing it, and am really happy with it : )
There were 20,000 people at the Full Moon Party. In peak season it has been 250,000, and the beach really isn't that big. We were so excited, but ended up sacking it off early and getting a Thai massage. It was just even more drunken Englishmen than usual. Think in a few years Thailand is gonna be just another Ibiza : (
We couldn't bare to be parted from our Mad Ones, so they stayed in our room on the last night, when they were supposed to leave. 6 people. 1 double bed. We were planning on travelling north to Chang Mai, but have instead come back to Ko Tao with them. After a couple of days here they're going back to Bangkok with us, for a third time! Everyone has come to Tao to chill out after the Full Moon, so we spent over an hour walking around with our rucksacks trying to find a room. Everywhere was full. The staff at Wind Resort remembered us and are letting us sleep in their maggase parlour with 10 other people for B100 = 2 quid!
Have been keeping a journal with everything I've collected, drawings, a diary...
