cross creek dive shop and hostel
hello from guat.
My large plan to write an extensive blog about my trip has utlimatley failed. Once we arrived in Hondarus, what was that over a week and a half ago, it was straight to la ceiba, to spend one hot and sweaty night in the Hotel la carribe, then awoke to find there was a possibilty we would not make it to utila at all that day. A strike had prevented the ferry from runing the previous day. But myself and dayna hoped in a cab, with an english couple and zoomed to the ferry port. HURRAY! we would be able to get the morning ferry. It was a long wait but thank god we had wilson and the tons of kids who floked to us as soon as he saw him. We had a little scramble when it came time to get on the ferry, dayna and i thought shed lost her ticket, but it turned out that she was on mine. YEA were on the ferry, sitting in the baking sun, our english couple friends next to us, and our soon to be dorm mates (gareth and elicia ) across from us. we chatted idiley, while i tried to focus on not being sea sick. The sun was beating down on us, and we would remember that ferry ride the rest of the trip because our shorts tan never did fade. Finally the Utila harbor came into site! LAND HO! horray. we knew we wanted to stay at cross creek, and so gareth and elicia decided to check it out as well. We loved it the second we saw it. I so highly recommend it. its like a little community of Divers just beginning and some training to become Dive Masters. we decided on the courses we would do, myself a rescue course...which i was honestly very nervous about, and dayna an Open water. we got three nights free accomadation with the courses, and also two free fun dives. Dayna, myself and Gareth, our new english buddy decided to go on the afternoon boat to snorkle. it was great! met awsome people and had an amazing time...when we returned we found out that they had clumped us together in a cabana with two HUGE beds, a private bath, Air Con, and a private balcony, oh and cable...FOR OUR FREE NIGHts...which was awsome. so we had a great night...that was our first day on Utila...more to come.
ps im now in Flores a week and half later...
