Hmmm....
I'm not exactly sure what to say about Nha Trang. It is famous for its clean waters, great beaches, and spectacular diving and snorkeling. Sounds great, right? But this wasn't exactly the experience I had.
While already en route, I found out that October and November are the rainiest times of the year in Nha Trang and most of Central Vietnam. It rained the majority of the time I was here, and I didn't see any of the sun or warm weather that this area is so well known for.
But I'm not complaining. I was still getting over being sick while here, so I don't know how much I would've gone around, even if it was nice out. And I did already spent 5 days at beaches, and I'm not a huge beach person, so I guess it worked out.
So what next?
Luckily, the beaches weren't the only thing in Nha Trang. There were also some interesting sites that I was able to see, including a large Chinese pagoda, a huge white Buddha, the Nha Trang Cathedral (the French were here, remember?), and some old Cham temples (the Cham people were an ancient civilization, and they built a lot of temples in what is now Vietnam). So being able to see these sights helped me to still enjoy my time here.
I have to say that if I were here during the "on" season, this place would be great. The city was very clean and beautiful, and the beach was great as well (you know, minus the monsoons). If I come back to Vietnam again (and it isn't October or November), I will definitely make a stop here.
