Next day, I'm feeling even worse. Even a breakfast buffet in the top floor of the hotel with a splendid view over the Nile can’t make me feel any better.  But I’m still determined to continue on.  It’s not possible to reserve a seat, so I just have to get on a train and stand the whole way, feeling sicker and sicker all the way.

In Sohag, I finally get some medication—but it seems to be making me worse.  So I just spend the rest of the day in my room, trying to work up the energy to do the most basic things, like go to the bathroom or go buy some bottled water.
