Demnate is actually a pretty cool town with an interesting old medina, a great backdrop of scenery and a cozy feel as the houses cluster together up along the hillside. A very nice change from the dusty sprawl I've seen over the last two days... I’ve come back from Imin Ifni with my new found friend—we head to the house of another friend of his—an artist and musician. The house is beautifully decorated in a traditional style and there are cool paintings all about. Clearly they’ve been collecting historical artefacts of the region for quite some time..
We hang out for a while and they of course invite me to stay the night... They are good, clean cut fellows—but I still opt to stay in a hotel instead...
That evening I meet up with them again at a beautiful garden/café/pool at the top of the hill... They give me some great ideas for places to explore in the region. We wander the alleys of the medina bit more, then I head back home...
The next morning I have to get up early to catch the bus to Azilal—but I still have the chance to explore the medina a bit more. The walls are crumbling in places, but it still has an ancient, mystical vibe to it...
Good times there in Demnate...
