Day 391: 3 hours, 11.1 kms
After hiking for much of the morning up and down the rolling hills, I finally decide to catch a ride to the next town. It would be fun to hike this road all the way to the end, but I am kind of on a tight schedule here. So I hop on a rural taxi to the next village, Souk El Hedd, or "Sunday Market".
The town is in a flat, treeless plain and feels pretty poor. But it's a bustling, active little town with mechanic shop, welding shops, supply stores, and grimy little cafes along the muddy road. This is clearly the “big city” for the where folks living scattered all over the countryside come to for supplies. It seems most of the houses here are all halfway finished with the second floor just starting, giving the impression that progress and prosperity comes at a snails pace here.
I wander around the back streets… across a little stream with trash strewn all about… then back to the main road where I could catch a taxi to the next town… but I still need to take my video clip and there’s nowhere here in town that’s really suitable… so I continue on down the road.
