On my next day, heading towards Temara, to pick up where I left off—taking the bus this time, I pass through what looks like a sizeable town and I know I should get off the bus to check it out… but I don't… so once I reach Temara and wander around a little more, I get the growing feeling that I’ve got to hike back and check it out. For this region, I’ve got a "no town left behind" policy, and that definitely looked like a town back there.
So I head back to the highway and trudge through a rather dreary industrial zone—but with some nice views of open fields and a gentle slope overlooking the ocean off to the right. The sun is starting to show its summer strength—but I remind myself that I need to start gearing myself up for some more desert hikes this summer anyways…
Finally I reach Ain Attiq, where there’s a nice shady bench in a park next to the Town Hall that seems to have been made just for me
Nice little moment of spontaneous camaraderie here in Ain Attiq, talking about the typical subjects… religion, immigration, life in Morocco and life abroad… Good bunch of fellows.
I continue on down the road, past neighborhoods with streets but no houses, and sudden apartment complexes in the middle of nowhere, until finally it seems I’ve reached the end of Ain Attiq. Then I hop in a taxi kbir back to Temara, enjoy another delicious serving of fresh fruit and yoghurt… and head on home.
