Where I stayed
Hello all, and thank you for attending this brief summary.
My name is Nathan, and I’ll be taking you on a brief tour of his day. I’m paying for wifi, so this will be brief.
My Virgin Atlantic flight from LAX to LHR (Heathrow Airport, in the UK) ended up great. In the beginning though, I had to pay a fee because my baggage was overweight. No more shipping gym equipment for me! We ended up boarding an hour late. After we were late, and on the taxi way, a woman decided she wanted to get off the plane before...all in all we still arrived on time. The flight had in-seat entertainment. My bike was checked-in for free. They served me dinner, and breakfast. I watched Youth in Revolt...it was great :-) I have absolutely no complaints. I had a window seat...even the English woman sitting next to me was cute and helpful.
Flying in to Heathrow, I saw lush green landscape. A small river, a few small lakes. The weather is currently cloudy, with sprinkles here and there. I didn’t really sleep on the plane. I may have dozed off, until somebody opened up their window. Once I saw it was bright outside, I couldn’t get back to sleep. I should sleep well tonight.
I arrived in Heathrow around 15:50 (3:50pm), and realized I should probably get some currency exchanged. I had euros, but not British pounds. As the woman next to me on my flight pointed out, everything in the UK is more expensive than in the US. I decided to get 20 euros (~24 USD) exchanged for however many pounds, thinking it would get me a taxi to my hotel, and possibly food. After the exchange, I received 13 pounds, and some change. My taxi was 10 pounds. Let’s just say, I’ll be eating a granola bar for dinner tonight haha.
I expected to find free internet access somewhere. No such luck, after touring around other hotels, walking around aimlessly, laughing at all the people driving on the wrong side of the road, sitting on the wrong side of the car...just kidding! I did enjoy looking at the exotic cars. I saw one Lexus, many Mercedes Benz, BMW, VW, Saab, Maserati, cool looking taxi cabs, and double decker buses. I would have toured around more, but nearly everyone I have talked to said there was nothing to see around Heathrow. Also, I was tired and broke. I still am.
I have a long day ahead of me tomorrow. If all goes well, I’ll be in my home away from home by tomorrow evening.
