Getting down the stairs of the plane the handrail was already wet! Its like running against a wall... unbelievable... Then we got in the bus where 2 nice ladies greeted us with "Hello! Welcome to Singapore". We drove toward the terminal but stopped along the road to have ourselves and our passport checked (but not our hand luggage.....). In the Terminal everything worked out perfectly and we even got our bags! We then arrived in the hotel and Patrick just took a shower and fell asleep whilst Nathalie was taken by "Notting Hill" on TV, a movie she admitted to know by heart (but the justification was that she has never seen it in English... OK....
Waking up we had a lovely breakfast with fresh made waffels, fresh starfruit juice, dim sums, and the usual stuff.
We then went outside (the wall... again) strolled on Orchard Street (sprinting from Mall to Mall, because of the fantastic airconditioning...) and took the local Metro to the stadium where we picked up our tickets for tomorrow's Opening Ceremony of the Singapore Youth Olympics... The temperature was even more unbearable than before... Nathalie was completely drenched in sweat!!! We decided to take the huge ferris wheel called "Singapore Flyer" to get a good overview of the city, and it was absolutely fantastic (biggest ferris wheel in the world). The esplanade when we were down again gave us another good view of the Marina of Singapore. By that time Nathalie's feet were hurting and she had a giant blister!!! (For those who know Nathalie a little know that she has problematic feet). But.. EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON!!! As Nathalie was injured we were slowed down and at a road were wondering about the Police Motor Escort that blocked the road... and then we saw two double decker buses with the Singapore Youth Olympics team. We found it really cool as the athletes were cheering and were just about the walk away as there was another police escort approaching... and then came... the OLYMPIC FLAME!!! We took a lot of pictures and then we went on and found the next relay person for the olympic flame and were allowed to take a picture with him holding the torch!!! Right place, right time we would say...
Now we made it through the Underground-Mall-Jungle (not easy, least to say) back to the hotel and enjoy a glass of Cremant in the Executive Lounge!
