Toronto was more of a stopover for me than anything else. i didnt really get to see too much of the city as i only had one full day there on the Sunday. After coming from New York i found toronto to be a bit lame and i didnt really rate it all that much. I was expecting it to be a lot bigger and i felt that the actual CBD wasnt that much bigger than Parramatta (all thou it probably was). The other thing i must mention is the fact that my ipod erased itself, my camera decided to break and i lost that little blue book that the passport goes in and so yeh i was a little annoyed at the way things were working out. On the sunday morning i went to some random church there in the city and then i went to locate the australian consulate there so i could get another passport holder book the next day. After successfully locating the consulate i headed home a different way from that which i came and i randomly walked down church street - it is Toronto's equivalent of Sydneys oxford st only it was a lot bigger...
After walking a few km's back to the hostel, i found out that in the street the hostel was in there was a rather large street market with about 5 or 6 different areas where unsigned bands were playing, there was some salsa dancing going in one area plus there were numerous places selling clothes and food etc.
The crowd outside my hostel was rather colourful and probably numbered somewhere from 150-200 and there a kind of very heavy rock/hard core punk bordering on death metal band playing. The was a lot of leather, spikes and died hair not to mention the dozen or so people smoking up some weed in the alleyway next to the hostel - all in all a rather interesting experience.
My room mate in Toronto was this really nice Japanese guy who was in canada to study english and we had some fun despite the language problems and i took him out to a thai restaurant for dinner that evening.
Monday i just spent packing, went to the embassy to get that blue book and then caught a bus up to Kingston - the place where i will be studying until christmas.
