Update 5: Superb Sandbording but Nasca was a waste

Sandboarding the extensive coastal sand ranges of Ica was definitely well worth the stop. We stayed in an Oasis town called Huacachina which was fanstastic. WE went on our sandbaording expidition the afternoon we got there and it cost us around Aud$15 for dune buggy transportation and sand boarding for 2 hours. The buggy ride was just as great as the sandboarding itself.

We started off at these smaller hills that were about 30-50m high and we tried standing and lying down. Lying down was faster and there was less chance of getting hurt. Steve
had the best stack going down standing up when he hit someone elses tracks and went head over heals! it was so funny but scary at the same time as i watched him come down and land on the back of his neck with quite a force. he was alright but had a killer headache the next day!

After our practice hill we hit up the biggest hill there was to ride. this monster was around 120-150m high and it was steep! i went first and i about halfway down i hit my max speed and everyhitng started to warp and blur - kind of like in those sci-fi movies where the space ships going in to hyper drive and yer, everything blurs. We had the chance to do a few more hills and then went watch the sunset over the dunes which was amazing.

The next day we did a bit of a wine tour and saw how they made Pisco - typical to the west coast of south america. It was great and i would have bought some home only there is too much of the trip to come to start adding such weight to my baggage.

NASCA - We came for the chicken
We got to Nasca the next day by taking an old school american car with some other guys fron the hostel. It was a great trip. The worst thing about it was we missed our opportunity to climb a tower to see some of the nazca lines. we didnt realise what the driver was saying to us - asking us if we wanted to stop. These lines were created some 1500-2000 years ago and are still intact due to the arid climate in the region.

In town we had the best lunch of our trip, paying abit extra to eat at a nicer restaurant and had a half chicken and chips each. The best thing about the chicken is that a half here is about the same size as a whole one back in aus! it was soo good!

We changed our bus tickets to a 3am bus that morning, and got outa there as quick as we could. we thought the whole lines thing was a waste of time and couldnt be bothered to pay for a flight over the lines or to head back out to the tower!
