We came to Leshan for the day to visit the giant statue of Buddha....and it was another amazing site.
We came by bus from Chengdu, about 2 hours, but into one of the 3 bus stations in Leshan, without knowing which one. After getting sorted we jumped another local bus up to the park where the statue is.
The statue was built about 1300 years ago, to calm the raging waters of the river below. Judging how it was swirling around it hasn't worked!!!
Anyway it was a great day and much more to see in the park than just the big statue. As we only saw about 4 other "Westerners" it is an undicovered gem.
