Hey!!

Well my third week in Paderborn went by pretty quickly and FINALLY things are starting to get done!!

On Monday, Anne, Cate and myself made supper together and then we went over to Jon's to watch Eurotrip....hilarious!!! After that well the rest of the week I took pretty easy because I wasn't feel too great so unfortunately no Pflaumenbaum for me. Turned out well because on the weekend we went to Hannover to visit Anne's uncle and see the town!

As for the things getting done well I FINALLY have a phone in my room...the internet...well should be on its way within the next couple of days hopefully because I'm getting annoyed having to always come on campus to talk to people!! Ah well, I'll deal as usual!!

My German is also starting to get a lot better although I still suck at pronouncing such verbs as "Sprechen" (which means to speak)...and I think that the prof has given up on me pronouncing that verb with ease...hehe Although we had a different prof this past Wednesday who was really nice and a lot more understanding which thus, made it a lot more fun!! Only two more weeks and then classes start! On Monday we have a meeting with Prof. Boehler about classes and such. I'm really looking forward to meeting him since Mel and Joey had such good things to say about him and also about how much he liked Canadians!! hehe

On Wednesday and Thursday, Anne and Cate came over and we made supper together. I think we're going to make this a weekly event. It's so much more fun making supper with other people than making it by yourself! Anyways, Wednesday we made pancakes and bacon...with you guessed it, MAPLE SYRUP!! Thursday we made our favorite pasta dish, think it'll be our theme supper for the trip...and then we watched Take the Lead that my parents sent me in a package of goodies last Saturday!! woohoo!!

Friday I had my class and then afterwards I went back home to pack and get ready for Hannover!! Our semester tickets doesn't kick in till the 1st of October so until then we have to pay our way on the train and bus. Our semesterticket allows us to take the train quite a fair distance around Paderborn without paying (well it's included in the price that you pay to get it...61 euros).

So I met up with Anne and Cate downtown and then we walked over to the train station to catch the train to Hannover to meet Anne's uncle Peter. Thank god that he had written a note in German explaining to the people at the counter what we wanted because otherwise we probably would have been going to Timbucktoo for all we could have known!! hehe So we got on the train for our 2 hours and a bit train ride. It actually went really smooth and then we arrived at the Hannover airport to meet up with Anne's uncle. On the way to Braunschweig we went on the Autobahn!! Was it ever cool!! Her uncle was driving easily 200km/h and there were still cars passing us!! At night we relaxed and went to bed fairly early since we wanted to get an early start in Hannover.

Saturday Anne and I went to Hannover, Cate was sick so she stayed back at Peter's house to take it easy. We took the train from Braunschweig to Hannover and I don't think I've seen so many police officers in a station! Seems like there was a soccer game in a town close by and well there could have been a fight between rival team fans (especially since most of them had been drinking, they were bringing cases of beer on the train) so they were keeping a close eye on people in the train and on the platform. Once we arrived in Hannover, we thought that we weren't going to see all the town since all the historical sights seemed to be pretty spaced out but in fact they were really close so we saw almost all of them!! We even had time to do a bit of shopping but was it ever expensive so we decided to keep our money and instead spend it when we go to Rome this coming weekend!! woohoo!! Hannover was very much distroyed during the WW2 so a lot of the historical sights like a church that I took a picture of was distroyed. They even had pictures in the town hall of Hannover throughout the past century and it's quite the interesting thing to see.

On the Sunday we had planned to head back to Paderborn fairly early but Cate was feeling a lot worse so we ended up taking her first to a clinic which didn't help and then Peter took her to the Hospital where she found out that not only did she had a flu but she also had a infection!! :( So in other words, she wasn't going to be coming back with us till about Thursday and possibly not even come to Rome. Anne and I decided that we were going to head back a bit later once we knew she was ok since we had class and a meeting with Prof Boehler so we got a taxi to the train station in Braunschweig and took the train home...although we had to make a connection but we weren't sure where. So after panicking after we passed the Hannover station we asked the man who went by stamping out tickets and found out that we had to get off at Bielefeld and then transfer to the train going to Paderborn. We were quite lucky just getting that train by a couple of seconds thank god! We got home at about 11pm after spending 3 hours on the train and freaking out part of the way!! hehe What a journey in Germany I'm telling you!! I think by the time I come back to Canada, I will be an expert at travelling on the train!!

Well that pretty much concludes my week!! Stay tuned for this week's entry including a trip to Rome!! Can't wait!!
