Hey everyone!!

Well I'm safe and sound in Germany!! Had one hell of a ride I'm telling you!!

My plane trip from Montreal went really well, had loads of leg room on the plane, the food was decent (had lasagna!!) and so were the movies (started watching Just My Luck but fell asleep half way!! hehe). I only had a couple of problems, one my suitcase was too heavy so I had to take out my ac adaptor and put it in my backpack and then once I arrived at Heathrow, I had to get my backpack to fit into this stupid slot or else I had to book it in with the rest of the cargo (HELL NO!! especially not with my laptop!!) They were very severe in what you were allowed to bring on the plane due to all the events that happened over a month ago. You weren't allowed to bring on any makeup, liquids of any sort, toothpaste,etc...and the line ups to go through security...don't even get me started!! haha At least the Duty Free was good, I got something to eat and bought myself a nice necklace!!

Once I arrived in Germany (in Dusseldorf), I had to make my way to the train station which was one intersting ride!! I didn't understand any of the signs and had to ask some people how to get there. I almost missed my train by a matter of seconds and had to pull my 32kg bag as well as my backpack around which blocked the way for many people who wanted to get from one train car to the next...hehe! At one point I had to change trains at a place called Hamm and thank god there was an elevator to get up to the platform because there was no way in hell that I was going to be able to carry my suitcase up them especially me being the size that I am!! Something that I thought was funny was that this older man who was sitting in the row next to me got on the train and suddenly opened a beer...thought that that was sorta cool wish I had thought of that it would have probably made my ride a bit more relaxing!!

Once I arrived in Paderborn, my buddy Birthe (pronounced Birrta) came to pick me up and brought me to my very "cozy" room.(you'll see from the pics that it's VERY SMALL!!) When she left after I got settled in, my whole world colapsed. I was homesick like crazy, tired as hell, my body wash in my bag had leaked all over a bunch of my bras, I had forgotten towels so the next morning I had to dry myself off with a tank top, my adapter wasn't working so I couldn't charge anything nor dry my hair, I didn't have access to the internet and my calling card ran out of money! Let's just say that was the lowest I'd ever felt in my life and felt like leaving everything behind and hopping on the next train out to fly back to Canada!!

Once I had a semi good night sleep in me (I managed to fall asleep at 3:30am) I spent the next couple days getting to know my way around town, buying groceries in a supermarket where I couldn't even make out what was ham and what was the rest of the stuff, and missing my family, my friends, and especially Marc very much!! On Sunday night, there was a semi party for some of the exchange student who were celebrating their birthday on the same day so I got a chance to meet a couple of them which was cool.

Monday, I opened a bank account, got to know the people from Eurobiz and ate for the first time at the MENSA!! (Mel and Joey, man were you guys ever right in saying that the food is SOOOO GOOODD!!!) You can get a full meal for about 4$ and OH, is beer EVER CHEAP!!! I bought a 6 pack of Beck's for 4 euros (about 5$ Canadian).

Other than that, Paderborn is a really cute town, A LOT bigger than I expected! The shopping is really good here (of course I had to go and inspect them...hehe), lots of shops (they even have an H&M!!!) and the people are really nice and will help you out if you need ANYTHING. I was really feeling a bit out of it seeing as though everything was written in German, people were speaking in German and I must admit I felt somewhat comforted when I walked into "United Colours of Benetton" and a song by the Pussycat Dolls was playing!! haha! Finally something in English!!! haha

This morning, Pia, a member of Eurobiz, showed me around the campus and got me logged onto the wireless network on campus which I will be on all the time in the afternoon/evening for me so morning/beginning of the afternoon for you guys. So if any of you feel like talking to me, then is the best time to get ahold of me! :) Tonight is when I meet all the other exchange students and tomorrow is...gulp...my German test which I will be failing miserably!! haha

Bon, I'm going to stop this blog here, I think you guys have enough to read to grasp what I've been going through!! I've put up a bunch of pictures so you can all see what Paderborn looks like and also my messy room!!!

OHH!! I've got Skype on my laptop so for those who would like to actually speak to me when I'm online, download it and add me, my nick is "nat.fatica"

Take care and hope to hear from you all soon!!

Nat.
