Here we are in Aaqaba, one of the premier dive sites on earth.
Did we actually make it into the sea however ? Nope, all we have to report from here is that we spent 5 glorious days relaxing by our 4 star hotel's (that's very very very luxurious to us remember) pool.
It wasn't a tough decision for us to make. If we have to wait around for visas then we may as well do it soaking up some rays by a pool. We ARE the 4 star backpackers. We had lovely buffet breakfasts every morning and ate Chinese, Italian, Indian and local cuisine which was a nice change.
All in all it was a nice weeks break from the daily rigours of travelling around with a pack strapped to your back.
Aqaba itself is simply a resort and port town with not much to offer those in search of any cultural or historical sites so not much to report from that angle.
If however you're after a short break in a nice touristy type town close to the water for diving or just sun baking by a pool then Aqaba would be fine. There's very good discounts to be had at the hotels if you bargain hard enough.
And that's that.
Next pod, Wadi Rum - Jordan.
Hope all is well.
Love,
Nath and Kat.
