Happy belated 4th of July! Hope everyone had a good one yesterday. I didn't get to see any fireworks, but did get to a barbeque hosted by Jannis, the owner of the house we're renting. A lot of lamb, ouzo, and good conversation were had. He's mastered everyone else's name - but somehow I've become known as 'Jennifer Aniston'. While I don't see the resemblance, she is greek ....so I'm just going to take that to mean I'm ok.
Otherwise, I've spent the last few days either at the beach, an internet café, or driving around the island somewhere in between. Starting to get pumped about Africa, but not so much about the two days of travel ahead of me. Leaving here early tomorrow morning on a ferry back to Turkey, followed by 4 flights with layovers in Istanbul, Cairo, and Nairobi before finally touching down in Johannesburg on Saturday morning. Keep your fingers crossed that me and my stuff make it there relatively disaster free.
Internet is going to be a "veritable unknown" while in Africa, but I'll do my best to keep you all updated.
