Someone was supposed to come at 6 and give everyone a wake up call but nothing happened. Just as well there were some early risers who go the others up. We eventually go into the boats at 630 and went to try and see the dawn feeders.

this time we saw orang utans in fig trees but a lot of them were high up and I cursed the fact that I forgot the binoculars. Anyway I got some good shots with the camera. Its good to see thenm in the wild the previous ones that I saw were in the sanctuary in Kuching. I read an artilce about the sustainable development in this area and i will do a piece on that later. Anyway we saw a monitor lizard slithering down the bank. Very timid so had to be quick with the camera. Not long after that was the first sighting of a crocodile. Not all that big.

The guide told us of an incident two years ago when a little girl was taken by a crocodile while she was with her mother on the who was washing the family clothes. We pssed them again and two children waived to presumably the sibling of the one that was lost. One would think that would have learnt the lesson but if you no other way to get the washing done then what is the option?

Then we had the first and only sighting of an otter. It was quietly swimming along the bank and we followed it in the boat for quite a while before it got fed up and disappeared.Saw some more fish eagles and a hugh hornbill, and then two more. They make a loud rasping noise that one can hear for miles around. Several birds whose names I cannot remember. So the early morning trip was well worth while. Then it was back to the camp for breakfast.
