I found a beach hut on Pattaya beach on Ko Lipe which is even smaller that Ko Lanta. A ferry brought me here and as is the way here a longtailed boat took me close to the beach and I had to jump off and walk the rest.

The hut itself was baxic in that it was built on stilts and had a fan and a mosquito net.  A door led to the 'bathroom' in the back which had a pipe for a shower another pipe to the small basin. It had no roof but had 2 papaya trees growing in the corners.  The sea was in the front.

this was to be home for the next couple of days. The sand was silver and behind me was the village. On the other side of the village was the other side of the island so it was small. It was peaceful and I spent my  walking along the shore reading and sitting under the palms eating fruit and sleeping.

I understand that next year there are plans by the developer who owns all the land to knock down all the huts and replace them with concrete holiday homes so all this will be lost soon.  A pity.

Hi there
On a very dark and rainy November in Bottisham it was good to read your blog and the wonderful description of your latest home from home. I hope that you are keeping well and that your next 'hop' will be just as fantastic.
Very best wishes.
