Agnes Water
Hopped on the bus and watched Deep Impact..all 3 of us were sat there crying! Got off the bus in the arse crack of no wher. We'd already booked our accommodation here - Southern Cross Hostel as Laura and Lizzie were staying here. The heavens opened as we landed, I think the rain is following us! Met up with Laura and Lizzie, chatted to them for a while and then spent the rest of the evening playing trivial pursuit. We were going to go down to The Tavern but an arsey english girl, who kept calling us mate, put us off.
Up early in the morning and took full advantage of the free breakfast. Headed in to the town for a free tour of Agnes Water/Town of 1770. It's called 1770 because this is where Captain Cook landed on 24 May 1770. In the last 15 years it's got tarmaced roads and shops; would have loved to have seen what it looked like before. Spent a couple of hours on the beach, luckily got
back before it started raining. Not much to do here so had a game of pictionary and watched a dvd. There was a free bbq on at the hostel so had sausage and steak sandwiches, washed down with marshmallows. Laura and Lizzie were heading to Airlie Beach on the night bus so we waved them off; as I'm not going much furhter North this will be the last time that I see them :( Waved them off and then got the free shuttle bus down to The Tavern. It was a mixture of Ozzy hicks and backpackers. Spent my time skipping round the dance floor to The Proclaimers and telling obnoxious men to knob off! All hell broke lose when it was time to get the free bus back. It worse than Ptown on a Saturday evening. Blokes were just running round with no shirts on, flinging kicks and punches as people were led scattered around unconscious...mental! Not got a clue what time I fell in to bed but still managed to get up in the morning for the free breakfast.
Day 3
Spent the afternoon with Hot Rod between my thighs, on the back of his motorbike, he even had a handlebar moustache! No, I didn't pull him in The Tavern the night before, he was the tour guide of Scooter Roo. He has loads of scooters in the style
of chopper bikes, and people cruise round looking for kangaroos and watch the sunset over the ocean. Toni and I were going to go tandem to save on money but for some reason Rod said I could ride with him; only when he had a cheeky feel of my leg did I realise why! Although he was a bit pervy it was still pretty cool crusing round on the back of his bike, I was like a VIP!
Kept getting serious cases of the giggles, especially when he booted it and we shot off. Always said I'd never go on the back of a motorbike, well now I can say I've done it and I actually enjoyed it. Saw some wild kangaroos and one of them had a joey in its pouch! The tour ended with a shared box of wedges between the 3 of us as the sunset over the ocean. It wasn't
an amazing sunset due to the cloud cover. Hot Rod had brought me a jacket for when I got cold so rode back to Chopper Boulevard warm and generally happy.
It was a good end to a fabuolous couple of weeks with Toni and Katie; they were heading on the night bus to Airlie Beach and as I'm not going that far it was time to say farewell. Even though we'd only known each other 2 weeks it felt like we'd been friends for years. Both of the girls and Laura and Lizzie definitely made my trip up the east coast.
Day 4
A day of nothingness. Played poker (badly) and watched dvd's. Waited for the greydog at 9.10pm. This would be my last greyhound journey of the trip. As sadly my time travelling up the coast is coming to an end. Still got plenty to look forward to though as catching up with Amy in Sydney and then flying back to Melbourne.
