Where I stayed
El Morro
The early morning hours were really cold necessitating another blanket. The sunrise revealed clear blue skies and quickly warmed up the van. After breakfast we walked the base of the El Morro again to see if we could identify anymore inscriptions and then began the climb to the top. Happily we were in shade until we neared the top and it was slow going, the steep trail combined with an elevation of 7,219 feet was challenging so we just took our time.
Every step was worth it, the view at the top was incredible and revealed a box canyon that could not be seen from below. We walked the rim, around the end of the box canyon snapping photos every few steps. We were definitely "snap happy". Returning to camp we spent a lovely afternoon reading and enjoying the solitude and serenity of this beautiful place.
