Where I stayed
Matt and Sue's
November 13, 2009
Light rain and wind continued today off and on so when Kate finished school we went to the Aquarium in Pine Knoll Shores across the causeway from Morehead City.
Small tanks and a number of larger ones hold representative species from the local rivers, piedmont, sport fishing, coastal waters, and offshore waters, from itty bitty frogs to sharks. No aquarium is complete without touch tanks; rays gracefully swam around one (stingers removed) and another touch tank included spider crabs, and starfish.

Beaufort-by-the-Sea has some history and character. It is not a large town but has many homes dating to the mid 1700's. Originally a port of entry and fishing village, Beaufort has a rich maritime history.
November 15, 2009
Another little waterfront community on the Intercoastal Waterway, Swansboro, not far from Matt and Sue’s dates back to the early 1700’s. We had a delicious lunch at one of the pubs and wandered the streets and waterfront.
