Two days later ... That International Date Line messes with your mind!
We arrived at 4:50 am. Japanese customs was a breeze. Only hitch was that Brent wasn't there to meet us. We had no way to contact him. We couldn't get wi-fi in the airport, we had no money to access the computers available, and discovered that neither of us had his cell phone number available. Susan really freaked. I was calmer, figuring he would eventually find us. Sure enough, 20 minutes later, he came in. He had gone to the wrong terminal.
Much relieved, we took a train into the city. It was way too early for hotel check-in, but we dropped off our bags and persuaded the young woman at the reception desk to allow us to rest in Brent's room for an hour. (It took some convincing because they don't want people piling into a room without paying.) The hotel was small, tall, and had a mid-range modern European feel.
