I have arrived in Cusco, Peru :) happy

After a very long trip getting to Lima which I think took about 24 hours all in all, and a short overnight stop in a hostel in Lima, I am now in Cusco, 3400m high up in the Andes and freezing!!!  As I´m writing this I´m sat in the schools internet cafe with about 4 layers of clothes on and my wind breaker jacket, and still shivering!  It gets to about 20 degrees in the day if you´re in the sun, but goes down to nearly zero at night which makes it fun with no heating in the accomodation and a shuttle run outdoors to the bathroom in the middle of the night!  It´s a pretty basic room but I have it all to myself which is nice.

I got to the school yesterday afternoon and made a couple of friends straight away, one with a Dutch lady who is also travelling on her own and has pretty much the same route as me planned, except she is organised and has it all booked up already and is staying about 3 weeks longer than me in total but I have a feeling we will be following each other around!  I had my first lesson this morning which was a group lesson with 5 of us (the rest all 20 year old American university students!) lasting 4 hours.  This will be the same now for the rest of my 2 week stay, although I already think I may be extending my stay in Cusco.  If I had done a bit more research before I left UK I would have found out that the whole of June is a festival in Cusco and the 24th June is the 2nd largest festival in South America called Inti Raymi that I really shouldn´t miss, and I had only planned to be here until 23rd, so my plans are already changing!   This afternoon I have free to go and explore (or mooch!) around Cusco so I think finding somewhere sunny to sit whilst drinking a hot coffee and people watching may be the order of the afternoon!
