A deep cool Ravine lush and green as far as the eye can see. Sun beams coming through the thick jungle lighting up the pinks, deep blues and orange fauna. Fresh icy water cascades down into deep pools linked by natural slides whilst humming birds and giant butterfly flutter overhead. Heaven.

Actually an area 20 minutes outside of a little town called Juayua on the the Routa del Flores called Los Chorros de la Calera. Easily one of the most beautiful places weŽd seen on this trip and quite possibly ever.

The Routa Del Flores passes from one side of the line of Volcanoes that stretch through El SalvadorŽs west to the other and as its title may suggest is famous for its spectacular Fauna and wildlife. 40 minutes from its start point is Juayua. A super little place and such a better base to see the area than Santa Ana. With its 3 accommodations you can feel like you are the only people there. Which is quite possible. Certainly making sure you stock up on food at lunch is a good idea. Passed 5 everywhere is shut and you can only get Pulpas, a fried thick tortilla stuffed with cheese, chicken or some such and served with a pickled cabbage. Dreamland for Vinny not so much for Nadia.

A place to while away a few days.
