2 days in Antigua didn´t do this unbelievably beautiful place justice. It is just lovely. One of the most stunning towns you will ever visit.
It felt more like we were on a cosmopolitan European ´city break´, not Central American city. In complete contrast to the rest of Guatemala. We kept expecting to see Ryan Air advertising.
To top it off, we stayed in a lovely little posada that treated us to TV, a duvet and a wonderful hot shower that after 2 weeks of Madre and Padre´s Água Caliente´, made me one happy traveller.
Antigua is a place for lazy strolling, taking photos and ice-cream eating which was about the long and short of our stay there. There is an opportunity to tackle the active volcano which provides a rather breathtaking backdrop to Antigua. Here you will be literally metres from molten lava and your shoes may melt. We chose to just relax instead and let it all sink in.
