We arrived in Bangkok after a 34 hrs journey from Ontario. Needless to say, we were exhausted and jet legged. Despite our lack of sleep, we started our first day at 4am (thanks to the 11 hr time change).

The public ferry is located just 10 Min's from the Ibis Riverside and costs 8baht to cross. From the public ferry you can take the "speed ferry" for 30 baht. The "speed ferry" will take you along the river and stops at various piers. We were after Pier 8, and off to see the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew.

The Grand Palace is exactly that, its 94.5 hectares and contains more than 100 buildings. The inside walls are lined with murals dating back to 1782. Inside the Palace stands Wat Phra Kaew (also known as the Temple of the Emerald Buddha). Its Bangkok's biggest attraction and is therefore guarded by mythical giants :)

The Grand Palace was a magnificent experience. Just be advised, many scams take place outside the palace walls. You will hear everything and anything to get your money. For EX: the palace is closed, we can take you here......, for just 10 baht...lol.

Wat Pho

After lunch we ventured to Wat Pho, home of the reclining Buddha. Wat Pho is less touristy and just as breathtaking. The reclining Buddha stretches 46m long and stands 15 m high. Did I mention she is gold? Within the walls are four sanctuaries containing 394 Gilded Buddha images. Many of which dated back to Auaytua's time.

Enought about history, lets Talk massage :) Inside the walls is a famous massage school. If you desire, you can receive an hour of traditional Thai massage within the temple walls.

Wat Arun

Wat Arun was the original home of the Emerald Buddha and has a beautiful 82m high prang (Khmer style). If you are feeling up to it, you can climb up the steps for a fantastic view of Bangkok.

The Night Market

The night market has something to offer everyone. From food to to knockoff bags and beyond. There is no shortage of shady strip clubs in the market. For a price you can watch women blow out birthday candles blank blank blank. If you are shopping for silk, turn around. The market is a sight to see, but only offers knock off products. In general, the prices are higher and the q
