Tania and I set off on the Withlacoochee River in order to soak in the best of "Wild Florida". The Withlacoochee flows out of the Green Swamp and twists itself through lush swamp land, Cypress and Gum trees (The Withlacoochee State Forest). The banks of the Withlacoochee River are abundant with Alligator, Wood duck, Wood Stork, White Ibis and Anhinga. After our 9 Mile Canoe trip we headed off to the Rainbow River.
The Rainbow River is small, winding and 5.7 Miles long. It begins at the springs that provide 400-600 million gallons of crystalline water each day. Unlike the With River, it's always clear, clean and 73 deg F.
For those of you considering a trip, I recommend Rainbow River Canoe and Kayak. It's a small family business that provided us with a wonderful experience at a descent price.
