For 180,000Mt (12 bucks) we purchased our ticket to Inhabane. But what they do not tell you is.....you have to pay for your luggage. Now it should be 50,000 per bag. But we got suckered for 100,000. The men were smart. When Ester and I went to the washroom, they separated the guys and suckered Marc into paying for our bags.
Now, as Marc was getting ripped off Ester and I were on a hunt to find the washroom
So, 10 mins later we are ripped off but finally on our way. Our first stop was just around the corner and by far the most interesting. As the bus approached the stop the locals began to run towards us. Women grabbed bananas, bread and various fruits and horded the bus. If you made eye contact you had at least 5 peoples business, if not, they slapped the window to get your attention. In total the bus ride took 7 long hours but we finally made it to Inhabane.
When we stepped off the bus is was wet and dark. We had made reservations and were expecting a pick up but there was no one around. Giving them the benefit of the doubt we pushed our way through the cab drivers and decided to wait it out. After 1 hour we decided to call. "25 mins and we will be there" 3 more hours later we were still waiting. So, now it is really late, very dark and everything is closed. What can you do, just sit back and laugh at your circumstances. Luckily we found a ride and were off to Fatima's Backpackers.
When we arrived we were starving, dirty and needed some rest. What we did not need to hear was "we double booked you, and you DO NOT have a dorm tonight" hahahahahah But they were able to accommodate us in a pre erected tent (on the beach) after some fuss, so it all worked out in the end. By 12 I was able to lie down and get some rest. I can't even explain how excited I was to unroll my new sleeping bag and get some well needed rest. As I crawled in, it became apparent that I have accidentally purchased a Childs sleeping bag. The bloody thing came up to my waist. Hahahahah I think it was the perfect complement to our day J
