I started my trip from Boro (near Maun). If you can, try to get someone to come with you to bring the cost down. I became very familiar with the ¡§single supplement¡¨ while traveling alone in Botswana. Everything costs more if you are on your own, so find a friendfº
There are several options with the Mokoro, 3 days in the bush, day trips and half days. I decided to go for a day trip with a long hike in the afternoon. We departed Boro very early (to beat the heat) and began to glide through the massive papayas
The water is crystal clear and actually good enough to drink. This is more than I can say for the water in Maun. In the shallow spots (no crocs) you can get out and enjoy the sandy bottoms and fresh water to cool down.
Half way my polar took me for a walk in the bush. Unfortunatly we did not see any wild life, but we were fresh on the buffalo dung for hours fº
In total, I spend 8hrs in the little canoe and it was toasty. If you are taking a Mokoro trip, make sure you bring lots of water and something to cover you, unfortunatly there is no protection from the hot African sun.
