This is where we change trains for the Mont Blanc Express. A very adventurous train ride that will take us through tunnels and alongside deep gorges on the way to Chamonix France. The train ride is only about 1 1/2 hours but apparently the scenery is amazing. Have a look at the pictures below.

SUNDAY 7/18: We have just arrived in Martigny, everyone excited about the next leg of our Journey. It is about 3:00pm and we are just boarding the Mt. Blanc Express, as it gets going we notice that the direction it is heading is straight for the mountain in front of us not around it as one would expect. Wait a minute it is going straight up the mountain side, everyone a bit nervous but of all of us, Kyle has gotten very quiet and does not seem to happy about the train traversing a track mountain goats wouldn't go on.

WOW, the scenery is breathtaking. We are taking tons of pictures knowing all along that they won't begin to capture the true majesty of this place. The ride to Chamonix is about 1 hour and involves riding all the way to the top of a valley and then switching trains for the ride down the other end of the valley which is where Chamonix is situated.

About halfway through the trip, all of a sudden a collective WOW let out through the train. The Mt. Blanc Massif just came into view and it is huge even by American standards. It is spectacular to see all that white of the glacier against the green of the lower mountains. The whole Chamonix Valley has amazing scenery.

Does this bring to mind the story of the little engine that could?
