Thursday March 24, 2005 Montevideo to Punta del Este and back
We awoke at 5:45a.m. to take a bus to the renowned Punta del este beach. As tired as we were, we couldn't contain our shock that people were barely making their way out the club across the street at this time in the morning! After a two hour bus ride, we found ourselves relaxing on the sands of Punto del este. Punta del Este is a popular vacation spot on the southern tip of Uruguay, southeast of the town of Maldonado and about 140 km east Montevideo. It is considered to be the dividing point between the Rio de la Plata and the Atlantic Ocean. A little later, I got up and went to explore the city on my own only to discover that the town was thoroughly lovely. During my walk, I discovered that Mc Donald's had dulce de leche ice cream and made it a point to have a second serving. YUMMY!
