For the first time ever, I celebrated my birthday in Mexico! On this momentous occurrence, I spent part of the day teaching. My students brought me a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a savory tres leches cake (my favorite). As the children sang las ma�anitas to me, I was overpowered with emotions and began to cry! After class, my comadre and her sister invited me to dinner at a taco stand in Cocula (a neighboring pueblo). Later on, my cousins and I had drinks at Los Arcos where I requested las ma�anitas by Alejandro Fern�ndez. It was played six times! Imagine that! Everyone knew it was my birthday!

The following day, my birthday was celebrated at my comadre's house with pozole, cake, tequila and pi�atas. Family and friends gathered to celebrate. My iPod boomed the entire time and there was quite A LOT of fun and laughter! The only thing missing: my immediate family and friends. I suppose another celebration is in order when I return!
