Took a walk around the hotel this morning and it turns out that the hotel is right across the way from the Owens Corning campus and right by the Maumee River. It turns out, that the city has some nicer areas. But alas, we left early and onto our next destination, a real city, Chi Town.

On the road, we noticed a recurring theme, Big trucks, cornfields, and no hills. Everywhere you looked though, looked like a potential scene for the movie Twister or Children of the Corn. There were also signs on the Indiana turn pike that said "animal present when light is flashing", which led us to wonder what we were supposed to do because all the lights were flashing even though some of the animals were really far away (it was, after all, miles and miles of farmland we were driving through).

We made a pit stop at one of the fine turnpike rest areas in Indiana to let the dog out and feed the kid. Many people were intrigued by the dog. Some commented on how beautiful she was, others commented on her hair and the amount of work it must take. The best comment was from this guy in jean overalls, a T shirt, a ragged hat and, yup you guessed it, a front toof missing. I know you can picture him too. He said, "Wow, that looks like half rat, half cat, and half dog." I didn't have the heart to tell him that 3 halves don't make a whole.

On our way to Chicago, we sped through Gary, IN (murder capital of the world), not stopping for gas (thanks, John). We arrived in Chicago intact and relieved to be in a real city with metropolitan type people. Our hotel is in a nice location and we have great accommodations thanks to our friend Ada. What a reprive compared to Toledo.

We took the dog, baby, and ourselves on a walk to Millenium Park hoping to get a picture of the "Circus" with the big Tiffany bean, oh, well we tried to but almost 3/4 of the way through the park, a park ranger told us no dogs, so we turned back and essentially walked through the park again. We went to Grant Park instead. Much to our surprise, that bunny was there (we even caught it on camera, just so you don't think we're making it up!). We didn't see it in Toledo, but we think we know why. They were gettin busy that day cause there were like 5 bunnies in the park and a few baby bunnies too. I guess the saying is true.

Mel went out with her friend and left me alone with the kid and dog in the hotel to write this entry. Not to worry though, the amenities will keep me occupied. We had a good rest last night.
