It seemed like a nice thing to take the short train from Cape Town to Stellenbosh to catch a day of the Wine Festival. Stellenbosch is the center of the wine growing area and one of the places to see in the Western Cape. The area is probably one of the most scenic places in SA and coupled with near perfect weather and a relaxing day of wine tasting it was a no brainer.
However, Stellenbosch is also the home of one of if not the biggest private universities in SA. Give over-priviledged 18 year olds a whole day of wine consumption and you can guess what the outcome is....pretty much a highscool field party. These kids live in a bubble and are oblivious to just how spoiled they are. I'm looking forward to getting back to Cape Town tomorrow.
Next time I go to a wine festival in South Africa, I will at least try to go on Sunday instead of Saturday.
Beautiful city though.
