After leaving Paris my goal was to get into the mountains and away from the tourist traps and crowds of big cities in the Summer. Knowing little to nothing about Grenoble, other than being the hometown of Andre the Giant and former site of the Winter Olympics, I went there on a whim. Grenoble is fairly big for being in the French Alps, I think I read there are 50,000 college students there.

Grenoble was a nice change of Pace from Paris, and it was nice to be able to hike around and rent a bike as well. Above the town on the hill, is the Fort Bastille, built in the mid 1800's to defend the city from any potential invasions from the more mountainous regions. You can climb around these fortifications and stairs all day or you can take the gondola or "eggs" to the top.

At the time I thought Grenoble was the only place I had been I would ever want to live.

There must have been a thousand pizza places in Grenoble, with either nobody or one table eating in each. Maybe try a different type of food?
