Woodside Beach Caravan Park

Not a terribly interesting drive. Tried to find the historic homestead at Stratford to no avail and kept on going towards Sale.  Quite a big township.  We walked around and checked it out then back in the van.  Stopped at the Historic Swing Bridge ( a rare example of an 1800's steel structure that still swings open to allow passing river traffic!) on the river, south of Sale for lunch then continued on and ended up at the lovely quiet Woodside Beach which is part of the 90 mile beach. Certainly not a Star rated caravan park here but the spot is beautiful.  We are camped just over the sand dunes from the beach.  Weather is ok so far, but looks like it might rain tonight. The place is really quiet and NO KIDS!  Victorian kids are back to school tomorrow!  Yee ha!

Got up this morning and took my coffee over to the beach and caught a beautiful rainbow just before the rain deluge.  Poured!  Spent most of the morning computing and reading and just really relaxing.  Just perfect.  We really needed a day of nothingness.  Quite a bit cooler though and we are testing out the heater in the van…. he he he…  Decided to take a walk in a break in the rain this arvo.  Walked around looking for some sort of township to no avail.  Bit strange here.  Park has all permanent holiday vans here and it seems no transient visitors at the moment.   Not even sure if there is anyone staying here at all other than us!  Weird.  We are a hundred miles from the amenities and when we walk up there we don’t see anyone else around!  After our walk in the freezing, windy conditions, it was back to the van to the heater and protection.  Very cold and windy.

Mr Dicko (and Lou) on

Hey kids. Happy birthday Wilba. Did you go through the lovely little town "Wilbaville" too? Sounds like you've missed most of the beautiful Gippsland lakes system. Remind me later this year, when we've retired, to take you guys on a guided tour of the Lakes. A sensational region. We're off to "Hamburger World" on Saturday 17th for a month so probably won't catch up this time, but hope to soon. Love and kisses, Michael & Louise.
