Orbost Caravan Park

Not much to see on the drive down here from Mallacoota today, pretty much drove through forest most of the way. Stopped at a great roadside camp on the river at Genoa for lunch (No.3 in Camps 5 book), but it was too early for us to stop for the night. Would have been a great place to stay as it was on the river, free and had good amenities – showers & toilets.  Anyway off we went and the weather started to turn sour.  Raining on and off.  We made it to Orbost and set up just before an incredible downpour so that was really lucky.  The caravan park was on the Snow River and was lovely. When rain had settled, we walked up the street and checked out the local shops.  Small little country town with nice folk.  Quite cool, we are certainly feeling the temperature change.  Really pretty country down this way. We wanted to drive up into the rainforest – Snowy Mountains National parks for a look, but the weather was pretty ominous so we headed over to the coast and checked out Marlo, a really small fishing village, where the Snowy River meets the ocean.  Then we drove east along the coastline to the very beautiful Cape Conran.  Went for a lovely walk around the headland – weather was sunny and beautiful but we could see the black clouds and rain over Orbost!  Worked our way home and arrived just before the huge downpour.  Spent the rest of the afternoon in as too wet for much more.
