Our goal was to see the Costa del Sol villages along the med sea
and then head on to Barcelona. We had to fly into Madrid on the 26th
spent the day there and stayed at the hotel Regina which was right across the street from the metro station Sevilla. For the price it was a very nice hotel and right in the middle of Puerta del Sol.

We decided to take the bus to Almeria from Mendes Alvaro metro station. We got there early enough to have breakfast then left for Almeria. The bus stopped 4 times but we only got off once for lunch.
When we got to Almeira we found out that there is only one car rental at the bus-train station and it was very expensive. I had rented a car on a courtesy hold at the airport. We got a cab for 11 Euros to the airport and had no problem getting the car. Be sure to get insurance! It will be worth it. The streets in the villages are so narrow that cars actually scrape your car if it is
parked. We ended up with quite a few scrapes.

We got on the E-15 to Palomares but there is one problem. In Spain they have roundabouts and you have to know exactly where to get off otherwise you get lost. We ended up in the town of Vera and being next door to Palomares we knew we were close. There were these guys on a corner smoking pot therefore we decided we would ask them for directions. They were so nice they got in their car and asked us to follow them and took us straight to the condo where we were staying. The condo was O.K. but not well maintained, The air condition wasnt working,
a lot of weeds at the entrance and the patio in the back. We had to clear the weeds in the front because there were bees nesting there and Im allergic to bee stings. Never mind the patio in the back. The swimming pool there was beautiful!!
Our condo was a five minute walk from the beach so by then we were hungry and we went to a cute little restaurant with fantastic food and wine EL MAR LA MAR right in front was the sea! The staff was fantastic, best seafood ever and they gave us complimentary drinks!
The next day we went to a grocery store Consum and they had everything you could ever want to buy and more. Then we headed for the beach in Palomares Quita Pellejos. The sand was dark but the water was blue and it wasnt as crowded as Garrucha or Mojacar. The best beach was Mojacar white sand and blue blue water and very warm. There is a boulevard that runs along all of these beaches and it is lined with restaurants and souvenir shops. The prices are very reasonable. The most fantastic village was Mojacar. It is a white village up in the mountains and winds down into the sea. Each town has its own square and on weekends they have activities going on all the time. Please bring your own sun blocker. Even though in Spain it is labeled SP 30 it doesnt do anything and we ended up with sunburns. All in all it was worth it and we saw the Spain has talent festival in Palomares and the people in all of these villages were very friendly!  We ate at Dannys pizza in Palomares square and it was absolutely delicious.  Actually everywhere we ate along the coast the food was terrific.  When you're in Spain be sure to visit the coastal villages along Almeria.
