From Toijala we did a few days of local sight seeing.
The first day was to Rapola near Sääksmäki - a hillfort dating back to the 13th and 15th centuries. It was partly constructed on a natural hill and was eventually fortified with some parts of the earth walls still visible. It is a large oblong hill with a large depression in the middle where the people of the time had their settlement. It was active in the Viking period with lots of archaeological finds but all of the history aside, for me the scenic views were the best because today was the first sunny day we have experienced and were able to admire some beautiful views.
We climbed up the hillside to the top and then around a scenic circuit which brought us down to the museum and other historical buildings. It was a lovely day just being out and sharing it with father & son. I'll let the photos tell the rest of the story.

Enjoyed these last two entries, have brought memories of our time with our cousins and our travels. Beautiful pictures and lovely to see Helena sitting at the spinning wheel still hard at it at the historic villiage(Seitseminen). Blessings to you and pass our greetings on.
