The village of Montecorto has about 5 bars for its 650 residents. The bars are full of men drinking sherry and watching bull fights. Like all villages in this area the houses
are dazzling white. From our apartment there are beautiful views across the valley of rolling green hills sprinkled with yellow broom and olives.

Most days we spend riding to a really picturesque villages built invariably on top of a hill - but a riderewarded by a coffee and time to explore before onto another village for tapas. The homeward ride often involved stretches of downhill which was quite thrilling. It was a really excellent week.

The highlights were riding up to Zahara de la Sierra which has a castle and overlooks a lake, swooshing downhill from Grazalema, and riding along the traffic free via verde
through lots of tunnels.

Our hosts, Ashley and Claire were amazing. One or other o them accompanied us on our rides and pointed out things of interest. Their service was really above and beyond. Our accommodation was a townhouse in the village. We rattled around the three bedrooms, two bathrooms and roof terrace. It was wonderful to be based in the one place for the week and not have to pack up every day. Claire had left the apartment full of books and besides the riding I got through four of them.

This week was a real highlight of this holiday.
